May 30, 2024: A Sad Day

Thursday, May 30th, 2024—the day Trump was convicted—marks a very sad day for our country… well maybe half the country. For the other half, it was a day of jubilation and celebration. This is what made that day truly sad.

We are living in an increasingly “the ends justify the means” kind of culture. It’s acceptable to lie in the middle of the street blocking traffic to protest “climate change.” It’s acceptable to burn down buildings and loot businesses in the name of “social justice.” It’s acceptable to smear and slander others as racists, bigots, and sexist because they have a different point of view. It’s acceptable to try to destroy someone for political gain or just out of sheer hatred. The witch-hunt against Trump is the most egregious display of this mindset, which has been going on for years with the now debunked Russia Collusion and the paid for Steele dossier.

It was a sad day because it represents a new low for our country. The truth doesn’t matter for these people, only the outcome does. They are willing to take any means necessary to produce the results they want even if that violates the most basic tenets of what is right and what is wrong. They will destroy anyone in their pursuit of power.

It was also a sad day because of the everyday Americans who jubilantly celebrated the verdict. They are so consumed with hatred that they are likewise okay with any means necessary in order to destroy a man. If something were to happen to Trump, many of these same people would sadly share the same level of glee. The verdict said more about them and those involved than the man himself.

November 5th represents a day for us to stand up for what is right; for what we believe in. It’s a day we can point our moral compass in the right direction again—to being restoring our fundamental values, our rule of law, our basic sense of what is right and wrong; what makes our country great.
