Liberals' Kryptonite

“Don’t ask for the American Dream if you’re not willing to obey the American laws and embrace the American culture,” said a speaker at the Republican National Convention. Were they the words of newly appointed J.D. Vance or some other white, male republican? If so, we would have immediately heard the MSNBC talking points: “RNC Filled with Xenophobia by MAGA Extremist,” “Anti-Immigrant and Hate-Filled Rhetoric on Full Display at RNC.” But they were not. They were the words of Hung Cao—a Vietnam refugee, an American immigrant, a graduate with a Master’s degree in physics, a retired Navy captain, and now a potential US senator. He represents the very essence of the American Dream—that anyone can succeed here, regardless of his or her background, through hard work, faith, and perseverance. And thus, he is the left’s worst nightmare: a minority, merit-based success story and someone who cannot be simply written off as another dastardly, racist, white male. People like Hung Cao hog-tie the entire liberal mantra. People like Hung Cao expose them for the frauds they really are who will say anything, regardless of how untrue, divisive, and destructive their words are, for political power or personal gain. We need more individuals like Hung Cao to speak up.
