Joy Reid's Guilty Tears

Was anyone taken aback seeing Joy Reid cry from her cancelation? I was, and for a moment, I wondered why I reacted this way. And then I realized I’m so used to seeing her smug and arrogant manner, that seeing her shed tears now was surreal—how quickly she breaks when that powerful platform is taken away. She’s like the killer on trial who swaggers in the courtroom until his demise is read.
She pleads before the camera proclaiming her show had value and again it reminded me of a convicted man pleading before the judge. I genuinely think she knows what she did on her show was wrong—that it was hateful, divisive, and deceitful. It’s only when one gets caught do the tears start flowing. And feeling the need to publicly qualify her show is just a last-minute effort to save face. She knows she is guilty and why her show got canceled. If it really did have value, why were her ratings so poor? Most Americans don’t want to be filled with hate, don’t want to be pitted against one another because of superficial differences, and don’t want to be lied to. It’s completely antithetical to value.
There’s always a little joy in seeing the bully go down. The writing’s been on the wall for quite some time but it’s not just from the lack of ratings or the lack of value of her show. I believe it’s more the universe correcting itself—the natural order of life. When there’s too much negative energy, such as her show, that area becomes unbalanced. It lacks harmony and needs to be restored.
She got what she deserved.
