Today is the last Monday of May--that day of the year for us to honor the men and women who died in service to our country. It's the official day we set aside. But how can we ultimately honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice?
We honor them by striving to be the best person we can possibly be. They didn't storm the beaches of Normandy for us to sit on our behinds playing video games all day or to whine about how racist and bigoted our country supposedly is. They gave their lives so we can pursue our dreams; to go after everything we want in life. And this requires personal responsibility. It requires courage, work, and perseverance. Whenever we feel like it's too hard or that the deck is stacked against us, we should think about these fallen soldiers, many who were too young to even have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
We have an obligation to them to make the best of our lives. And by personally excelling in life, chances are we are also contributing to the heartbeat of America. This is the ultimate way to give back; to honor our fallen heroes.
